Hey there New York Fashion Week throwback. Not even kidding when I say it feels like only yesterday I was dodging trash bags and (unsuccessfully) hailing cabs in New York for Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week. I was very happy to actually make it on time to the Zimmerman show and snap a few photos with my partner in crime before switching my metallic 5 inchers for Converse and heading to work.
Do you ever have a moment when you’re in your favorite store and you just absolutely, no-way-around-it, have to purchase something and stat? That is how this skirt and top combo ended up in my wardrobe. While I love the boxy shape of the ribbed Topshop top (it also works well with super-tight jeans or structured pants) it was the statement color that had my attention because, despite my strong feelings for black, I am a huge fan of obnoxious neons. There is always going to be a part of me that wants to push the envelope and pair two pieces that totally don’t make sense (I considered chartreuse bottoms) but I had to make a mature packing decision and go with a look that wouldn’t have me confused and throwing clothes around the hotel room as the clock ticked and my call time blew past me.
Something that wasn’t going to miss the trip in my carry-on were earrings from one of my new favorites. These Tiffany Kunz Leith Earrings are blowing my mind right now. I love that the piece actually hides behind the earlobe and they work with everything from a ratty tee (my speciality) to a floor length gown. I interviewed Tiffany at her studio back in the summer for Racked LA and became an instafan. More on that girl-crush later.
