Dress: Nightcap (rent it from The Stylist LA) // Shoes: Christian Louboutin

You might be surprised how convenient it is to have the right BBD occupying the corner lot in your closet (BBD: that’s big black DRESS-or long black dress-for all you fashion pervs out there). You never know when the black tie occasion might arise and the struggle that comes along with finding the right floor-grazing ensemble…is real. Gowns are tricky because what is out there and affordable is often borderline cheesy and usually basic because let’s face it, we don’t all have Elie Saab and Dior gowns being thrown at us. So if a chance encounter leads you to your perfect style mate but you don’t happen to have anywhere to wear it at the moment…let your gut lead you to the cash register.

That’s how I ended up with this not-so-typical gown by Nightcap. Our paths crossed back in October and though I had nothing on the calendar worthy of such a frock, I fell in love and had no choice but to surrender to that. As I like to say, it made me feel some type of way. Fast forward to Golden Globes and, while I otherwise would have had nothing to wear to the after party which would have put me in a last minute panic on top of every other wardrobe issue I was dealing with, I had made the right decision a few months earlier. For once in my life, procrastination was not to blame for any sort of anxiety attack. I threw this and my heels in a bag and didn’t give it a second thought. Zero planning involved and my wardrobe choice still fit right in with the rest of Hollywood, because when you fall in love…you just know.
