Denim X
Top: Topshop // Jeans: American Eagle // Shoes: Steve Madden // Necklace: Tiffany Kunz
The struggle to find the right pair of high-rise denim is a real thing. I’ve spent years looking because, surprise surprise, a high-waistline will instantly improve my crop top game. The issue has always been finding the right stretch so that it doesn’t flatten out the dunka but also fits snug in the waist (we don’t spend hours doing crunches and mermaids only to have an oversized waistline in our pants, no thanks). American Eagle has taken the pressure off with their sky-high jeggings and now I’m left with a bit of a hole from a task completion.
These jeans are so comfortable and work great with a crop top or, if you don’t want to go there, a basic tank tucked in (I would add a strappy bra underneath to give the look a little character). Clearly, this sweater by Topshop is on the uber-short side so a little longer will be more workplace appropriate. If you’re still feeling exposed, I like to throw on a men’s button-down or some sort of neutral flannel to give some extra coverage. The great thing about a high-rise is that you don’t have to take advantage of the waist-hugging detail, an oversized sweater or fitted blazer and top looks great too. It’s probably the most versatile style there is, now that we’ve found the perfect fit.
