Bright Lights Kill City
Jacket: Kill City // Tank: Kill City // Skirt: by johnny // Necklace: Sophie Monet
The second I stepped onto LA ground after spending five days in the polar vortex for New York Fashion Week (more on that later) I couldn’t wait to slip on a bare leggin’ mini skirt and the thinnest tank top I could find in my closet that would scream “I am home!” Seriously, we are so lucky to live here.
I found this by johnny skirt on one of my Venice Beach shopping trips and was obsessed with the bright colors and how they really popped against the black. It’s a much more fitted silhouette that I’m used to so I paired it with this Kill City blazer-a staple throwback in my wardrobe because it has a much slimmer fit than a classic black blazer with a more dramatic shoulder. Can we call this the fashion twist on boardroom chic? Ok, maybe a higher neckline would be more CEO appropriate but “appropriate” never gets you the job. The necklace, which I am obsessed with, is by Venice Beach designer and LA Native Sophie Monet who I interviewed a few months ago and simultaneously fell in love with her line. The colors and materials she works with are perfect for any Cali girl: whether you live in the SoCal breeze or you’re somewhere bundled in a wool coat but with us in spirit.
