My 5 Favorites: Oscars

I know that the Oscars are so last week but as the tuxes and gowns come back from dry-cleaning and the daily wardrobe needs have shifted, I am only now prepared to say “Deuces” to award season. While I typically find the red carpet of the Academy Awards to be the only exciting portion of the evening, this year I was presently surprised to see that what happened inside the Dolby Theater was equally entertaining. Of course there were still those grand moments when celebs stepped out of the limo and revealed who they were wearing (don’t act like you didn’t have to catch your breath when the wind caught Lupita Nyong’o’s Prada gown for the first time) but even many of those were overshadowed by mispronunciations, pizza boxes and the perfect “Thank You's” during the show. Here, in a particular order, are my favorite moments in time from the 2014 Academy Awards...

NUMBER ONE: Lupita Nyong’o's and Jared Leto's Acceptance Speeches

There is nothing less professional than tears while you are trying to get your clients dressed for an awards show, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t get a little choked up in our hotel room while these two gave their acceptance speeches. Because I can’t remember which one gave me full body chills, these are my favorite excerpts from both:

Lupita: "It doesn’t escape me for one moment that so much joy in my life is thanks to so much pain in someone else’s…..When I look down at this golden statue, may it remind me and every little child that no matter where you’re from, your dreams are valid."

Jared: "This is for the 36 million people who have lost the battle to AIDS. And to those of you who have ever felt injustice because of who you are and who you love, I stand here in front of the world with you and for you." #Winning

NUMBER TWO: Kate Hudson’s Dress

Kate Hudson is constant perfection on the red carpet and always my favorite on the Best Dressed list. She did it again this year in an Atelier Versace gown with Neil Lane jewels. #Flawless

NUMBER THREE: Jennifer Lawrence’s Red Carpet Tumble

Here’s the thing about us Kentucky girls, falling down is likely in our blood and nine times out of ten we don’t care who sees because we’ve grown used to it. This, being JLaw's second Academy Awards assbite, was not very shocking. Despite her lack of grace, the recovery was once again amazing and I’m sure she is thankful that her strapless Christian Dior gown didn’t provide her with a wardrobe malfunction. Plus, what a great shot of that $2 million Neil Lane necklace. #OopsIDidItAgain

NUMBER FOUR: The Selfie but..

Everyone is obsessed with this photo…I am actually sick of hearing about it but I am loving that Lupita’s brother is straight bogarting Angelina Jolie’s personal space. ANGELINA JOLIE. He is everything. #Living

NUMBER FIVE: Pharrell, His Wife and His Tattoo

Just when we thought he couldn’t upstage his overpriced but not overplayed Grammy’s hat, Pharrell wore shorts to the Oscars. #IDoWhatIWant

And a few of my favorite shots from inside E!’s Academy Awards coverage...
